Running Start & New Market Skills Center

If you are interested in either Running Start or New Market, come chat with Ms. Memmott in the Counseling Center to see if it's right for you!

RUNNING START

Running Start is a statewide program that allows high school juniors and seniors to attend community college tuition-free, earn college credits, and transfer to most 4-year colleges and universities in Washington.

Save money on college tuition
Start your 4-year experience debt-free. Earning an AA at the same time as your high school diploma and transferring to a university as a junior saves you and your family $8,000 (or much more!).

Enjoy independence & diverse experiences
Work a part-time job, pick your own schedule, or get more sleep. Running Start students enjoy being more independent than their high school peers and learning with students of all ages and backgrounds.

The Running Start (RS) program is an exciting option for RHS students, but does have some risks. To limit confusion and misunderstandings, we are asking all parents and students to read the Running Start Parent/Student Handbook and fill out this Google form verifying their understanding of the program.
